Before the advent of recording, amateurs who wanted to relive the highlights of opera or oratorio performances they had attended would have gathered friends and fellow musicians together to play their favourite excerpts at home. This CD includes highlights from Alcina, Solomon and Semele, arranged for combinations of flute, harpsichord, violin, viola and cello. The CD also includes Handel's Flute Concerto performed by Rachel Brown.

The London Handel Players was formed in 1999 to explore the great wealth of chamber music by Handel and his illustrious contemporaries on instruments of the period.
