CD of music for piano and orchestra by Bernard Stevens, performed by Martin Roscoe (piano) and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, conducted by Adrian Leaper. This CD is recorded on the Marco Polo label and was sponsored by The Rex Foundation. The Variations for Orchestra - One of the most imposing orchestral works combining traditional form and contemporary embellishment this listener has ever encountered Paul Snook Fanfare USA The Variations are quite simply a masterpiece. In them Stevens concludes his personalised synthesis of serialism within tonal structures to invigorating effect, clearly argued and tellingly orchestrated. Guy Richards (The Gramophone) The Dance Suite - The Dance Suite is exactly that; but a good deal more almost a short symphony with affinities to Bartok Brett Johnson (Tempo Record Review) The Piano Concerto - This superb work brilliantly played by Martin Roscoe Malcolm Macdonald
