CD of Antonin Tucapsky's Stabat Mater, performed by the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Prague Mixed Choir, together with the cantata, Mary Magdalene, performed by the Prague Mixed Choir with Nao Higano, soprano and Jan Steyer, organ.
Antonin Tucapsky's Stabat Mater has long been considered his supreme masterpiece. Although he has lived in London since 1975, Tucapsky's traditionally based and individual compositions remain true to his Moravian origins. This live recording was recorded in March 1999 in Prague with the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra, mezzo soprano Pavla Aunicka, baritone Roman Janal and the Prague Mixed Choir, conducted by Vladimir Valek.
The cantata, Stabat Mater is also a live performance, recorded in Prague in 2003 by the Prague Mixed Choir and their conductor Miroslav Kosler, with Nao Higano (soprano) and Jan Steyer (organ). This was performed in the alternative version for organ accompaniment although Tucapsky originally composed it for a medium-sized orchestra.
