The latest portrait CD dedicated to the music of Sadie Harrison, this recording brings together a trilogy of works based on the culture of 16th-century Afghanistan, in particular the gardens built by the warrior-poet, Zahiru'd-din Muhammad Babur outside Kabul. The individual pieces have been widely performed, most notably at Carnegie Hall - New York, The South Bank - London and the Munich Glyptothek. The CD brings this cycle of works together, interspersed with traditional Afghan music performed by Ensemble Bakhtar, a world-renowned group who have recently performed at the Albert Hall, Teatro Massimo Palermo for UNESCO and in Kabul.
