Timothy Walker writes: A lot of my playing career has been with composers such as Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, Pierre Boulez, Hans Werner Henze and so forth. However, as much pleasure as I get from sailing the uncharted seas of some modern music, I still very much enjoy tunes, keys and recognisable rhythms. As long as something is beautiful and interesting, its "up-to-dateness" of style or idiom is not important to me. "He adds to the repertoire superbly with his own compositions."
