A Reed in the Wind is listed in the Associated Board Grade 8 syllabus for oboe. Duration 12 mins. This piece won the Wangford Festival Prize, and has become a standard work in the contemporary oboe repertoire. It has received numerous performances by various oboists, notably Sarah Francis, Sylvia Harper, Jennifer Porcas, and Kitty Pluygers. Most recently it received a new interpretation by the young oboist Nicholas Bloomfield, who is about to record it on CD in 2001.
