Danish composer Ove Bentzen has written a number of works for double bass and this is a lively, rhythmic and tuneful three-movement suite with much player and audience appeal. The style is clear and fresh, and the slow movement is based on a popular Dansih folksong which slides into a jazz-inspired melody with pizzicato accompaniment.
