A Garland of the Elizabethan

CD of vocal works from five centuries of madrigals, glees and partsongs with Elizabethan lyrics performed by The Clerks of Christ Church, Countertenors John Cotton and Tom King, Tenors Adrian Lower, Brian Chapman, Baritone Angus Wilson and Bass William Gaunt.

This CD is performed by The Clerks of Christ Church, a vocal group founded five years ago to perform a total spectrum of vocal music. The disc presents some of the finest poetry written during the golden age of the Renaissance in England which has inspired composers from the days of Elizabeth 1 to the days or the present Queen Elizabeth II, including madrigals by Bennet, Famer and Wilbye, Partsongs set to Shakespearean texts by Schubert, Poulenc, Gounod, Vaughan Williams and Walton, and a group of Lyrics set by contemporary composer Richard Pantcheff.
