The concept behind the piece is that circumstances should not define one's peace of mind.

The fast, jagged sections represent difficult circumstances and the lyrical parts the more serene moments of life.

This arrangement of the well known Canadian carol (Twas in the Moon of Wintertime) with words by Father Jean de Brebeuf, a French missionary sent to the Huron people, utilizes a 16^th century French melody. This arrangement seeks to describe the cold Canadian arctic. The flute part is very florid, descriptive and accompanies a beautiful vocal melody with words in Huron.
