Mosaics is built on a mixture of chromatic and gypsy scales and sequences. This very effective piece contrasts a reflective, improvisatory opening with a nimble allegro and a more lyrical legato section. The improvisory music returns at the end to complete the piece.

Great care should be taken over the tuning in the freer sections, while the rise and fall of the expressive melody first announced by the piano should be supported with a generous tone.
