Out of print for many years, Nocturno and Intermezzo is arguably Frantisek Cerny's finest work for double bass. The influence of Dvorak is evident throughout, and it combines Czech lyricism and melody with bravura and virtuosic flourish. Beautifully written to exploit the many aspects and qualities of the solo double bass and suitable for any bassist who enjoys the challenge of playing throughout the solo range of the instrument.
