Caoine [pronounced: keen] is a dramatic, lyrical, passionate and impressive work. It was premiered by David Heyes at Wells Cathedral School, and combines technical flair with musical excellence.
Composed for Double Bass 2000 it utilises much of the solo range of the instrument and combines musicality with technique. Philip Cannon celebrated his 80th birthday in 2009 and has followed a strongly independent path throughout a long and successful career as a composer.
