The passion story from the Gospel of St. John, with poems by the American poet Carl Cook, set for unaccompanied vocal ensemble (alto, tenor, tenor, bass) in a flexible 40 minute work which mixes contemporary plainchant, arias and choruses. The role of Jesus is sung by the alto and the evangelist is split between the remaining 3 voices.
