This CD is performed by The Clerks of Christ Church, a vocal group founded five years ago to perform a total spectrum of vocal music. The disc presents some of the finest poetry written during the golden age of the Renaissance in England which has inspired composers from the days of Elizabeth 1 to the days or the present Queen Elizabeth II, including madrigals by Bennet, Famer and Wilbye, Partsongs set to Shakespearean texts by Schubert, Poulenc, Gounod, Vaughan Williams and Walton, and a group of Lyrics set by contemporary composer Richard Pantcheff.
