Jamie Walton (cello) and Charles Owen (piano) perform cello sonatas by Chopin and Rachmaninov.
Jamie Walton is a prize-winning 'cellist who studied with Margaret Moncrieff and Bill Pleeth. Already an established soloist, he has performed as a recitalist worldwide. A recent performance of the Haydn Cello Concerto in C with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra at the Vienne Konzerthaus was rapturously received by both audience and critics.
"There was a rich fluid of absorbing musicianship here; a strength and subtlety that revealed flawless intonation, purity of sound and unfailingly found the music's expressive core." Daily Telegraph.
Charles Owen is recognised as one of the leading British pianists of the younger generation. Studying at the Yehudi Menuhin School and then the Royal College of Music, he won many major prizes before completing his studies with Imogen Cooper. Other awards followed leading to diverse concert activities and recital engagements as an accompanist and chamber musician. He already collaborates with many other outstanding artists such as Sarah Chang, Natalie Clein and Jamie Walton.
"Charles Owen is out of the best school of British pianism - bright, sensitive, unaffected and with playing informed by brainwork." Glasgow Herald
This recording is the third in SOMM NEW HORIZONS,a new series launched in April 2002.
