Janet Hilton, clarinet with the Lindsay String Quartet.
Janet Hilton was born in Liverpool and studied in Manchester and Vienna. At the age of twenty she made her debut in the BBC, performing the Mozart Clarinet Concerto. She now has an international reputation and has been acclaimed as a soloist throughout Europe and on her annual visits to North America.
Janet Hilton is Head of Woodwind and Professor of Clarinet at the Royal College of Music in London.
john asks: which is the best performance is any thing better than the Lindsays ?
Sarah Rodgers answered:That is rather a matter of taste. For example as to whether you prefer a string sound with more or less vibrato. The only real way to decide is to listen to different versions and try to discover which moves you, or excites you or fulfils you. In my view, Janet's version with the Lindsays has great musical integrity.
