Of the eleven tracks on this album, eight were written by pianist Peter Hayes and three by bassist Dave Pullin, for their band Red Shadow Quartet. This is the band's second CD of original jazz compositions. The moods range from the reflective ('a quiet place'), to the driving force of 'Queequeg', and the first two tracks show the influences of Herbie Hancock and Thelonious Monk. The name of the band derives from two musicians of the 'blue note' era - Red Garland and Shadow Wilson.
