From the violinist's first anguished cry, through to the fourth movement's final bravura arpeggio, this sonata, completed in 2008, depicts an emotional journey where for most of the piece the performers represent two protagonists.
First movement: Quasi a piacere - in straight forward sonata form, with the second subject in a shifting 11/8 10/8 rhythm - the 'ten' metre being a feature of the whole work.
