This new edition of the supremely charming "Messe de Minuit" by Marc-Antoine Charpentier is scored for SATB choirs of all sizes, harpsichord, a string quintet (which of course can be doubled up for performances with larger choirs), and two treble recorders, which give the piece a wonderful period charm but which can be replaced by two flutes.
The vocal solo sections are quite short - there are no big arias - and can be successsfully performed by members of the choir. The vocal score and orchestral band parts are available in print and as downloads.
Charpentier's "Messe de Minuit" is an uplifting, beautiful and joyous affirmation of the Christmas story which can be successfully performed at all times of the year.
