Finnish bassist Teppo Hauta-aho is the most prolific bass composer of the 20th century. This is a short work which can be played by solo bass, duo or ensemble, and uses the orchestral register in a modern but lyrical and tonal idiom. Drums or percussion can be added. Effective in performance and beautifully crafted.
There are good musical and technical challenges for the intermediate bassist and this is successful in performance, with one or more players, and also as educational repertoire. This is modern music which is accessible, enjoyable and has much to say. Enjoy!
