A four minute piano solo for advanced players - Grade 7 to 8 - would make a good brief item in a solo programme. The Haunted Nightclub is an evocation of atmosphere, with a spooky "twenties" feel to the music. One thinks of a busy place with lots of people, but with a sense of "something else" also present - rather in the manner of a former member, - a "Petroushka"? - coming back to haunt the place where he was happy and with friends. The tension of the "haunting" rises throughout the piece to a climax, then dies away.
