THE KING OF THE GOLDEN RIVER (Full score)
The King of the Golden River by Sarah Rodgers; a setting of the fairytale by John Ruskin for tenor and string quartet. This work was commissioned by the Ruskin Society for the Ruskin Centenary celebrations in 2000. It was first performed by Richard Edgar-Wilson with the Coull Quartet and recorded for the SOMM label CD222
Total duration 23 minutes, the work makes a good partner recital piece to On Wenlock Edge and to Edmund Rubbra's Amoretti.
"Rodgers is clearly a fine composer with a sincerity especially welcome these days." Classic CD
