Sheet music for the Trumpet Concerto No. 1 in C minor by Vladimir Peskin.
Vladimir Peskin (1906-1988) was a Russian composer, pianist and amateur trumpet player. His father was persecuted by the Stalin regime and his mother deported, and Peskin was forced alone to provide for his family. To this end he sought work as a pianist in the Red Army orchestra, where he met the trumpet virtuoso Timofei Dokschitzer, then still a student. Peskin wrote a series of works for the young Dokschitzer, including this concerto. Performances of Peskin's works would later help propel Dokschitzer to international fame as a trumpet virtuoso.
This concerto is technically and musically one of the most interesting of the trumpet repertoire. It is romantic in style, full of passion and virtuosity, with a dramatic cadenza.
