Composed in 1949, this rare British work for double bass (or cello) has remained in manuscript until this edition. The style is modern but approachable and is a great addition to the repertoire, utilising much of the range of the solo double bass. The accompaniment is strongly individual, rhythmic and direct and the edition includes accompaniments for solo and orchestral tuning.
"How wonderful: an original concert work for double bass and piano from the mid 20th-century which is appealing, accessible, technically and musically, and reveals the bass's solo potential with highly positive results." (ESTA News & Views)
