ROSIN THE BOWS FOR STRING ORCHESTRA
Rosin the Bows is contrapuntal throughout and is based on a guitar riff from my time as a teenage band member. String players derive great satisfaction from meeting the challenges of the difficult passages.. The enthusiastic audience appreciation, which usually follows, is wonderfully gratifying for the musicians.
This piece was commissioned by the Kreisler String Orchestra of London, and performed five times during their tour of France and Belgium in 1995.It wasrevisedin 2008.
Rosin the Bows was at one time submitted to the Society for the Promotion of New Music in London, which yielded the following opinion from the adjudicator"---the music flows seamlessly and the instrumental writing is grateful to play"
“Your comments about Kapustin are entirely accurate! I'm certain to be ordering much of it in the near future.” Ben, Lincoln, USA
“Thank you for the information and support. The order arrived today without any problems.” Denis, Sao Paolo, Brazil
