This is a powerful work for the medium, written in 2013, in which the three movements focus on different musical elements. The first, Labyrinth, explores a series of durations operating at five levels, manipulating measure and note value groupings. The third movement, Processional, inverts and varies the themes of the first, exploring decorative patterns and string techniques. The middle movement, Canto, is a complete contrast to the complex outer movements, a simple melody on the 1st violin accompanied by pizzicato homophony. Each movement is in ABA form, B as contrast, the reprise in each case being modified and a little shortened.
Clement Jewitt has won several composition prizes. An earlier string quartet, That Which Was, was described by fellow musicians as "near a masterwork".
