These Six Voluntaries are by a major 18th. century composer from the north-east of England. They are written in the typical galant style of the period for manuals only and are proven to be very good music for church or recital use. They show the influence of the classical keyboard sonata in their quick movements. Garth wrote an important set of Six Cello Concertos and was a friend and possible pupil of Charles Avison.
