This is a full sized quartet work for skilled players, which will amply repay the work required to master it. Two players change instrument during the course of the work: player 1 from treble to descant, player 2 from tenor to treble. The basically diatonic structure is embroidered with modernist and chromatic inflexions, as well as some tongue-in-cheek baroque references, and it is packed with ingenious contrasts. As a concert work it will appeal to a wide variety of listeners. There are 4 Movements: 1. Largetto, Moderato, Poco allegro; 2. Scherzo; 3. Lento, non troppo; 4. Allegro comodo, giocoso
