This piece was composed by the two composers in collaboration. It is of only about Grade 6 - 7 standard and makes a wonderful encore piece for duet concerts. Fauré and Messager played the piece many times at concerts in the Paris salons in the 1880's and 1890's and, as a result, it became very popular. It uses fragments of themes from Wagner's "The Ring" namely from the operas "Die Walküre","Das Rheingold", Götterdämerung" and "Siegfried" and more. This is a new performing edition that has been made of a work which has been out of print for a long time.
