This string quartet was written in 2012, and is in four movements. The first movement is based on a rhythmic characteristic of the first theme and the development section, offset by a more lyrical second theme. The second movement is a particularly moving adagio, again with two themes. The first derives from decorative harmony, and the second makes considerable use of conversation between the two violins. The third movement is a scherzo interspersed with quasi recitative passages, and the last movement pvovides a cyclical nature to the work by taking the main theme of the first movement and transforming it rhythmically into a much more marked and syncopated style.
