In this duo for oboe and harp, a poignant, lyrical oboe line moves in sharp contrast to the gentle semiquaver harp figuration, creating shifting textures concentrating on beauty of sound. In this way the opposing qualities of the two instruments are played off against each other. The Welsh title, Telyneg, means "Lyric", and reflects the origin of the piece, which was written for the young Welsh Duo Celtica. The piece is at concert standard, and was very well received at its first performance at the Beaumaris Festival.
