Each of these three pieces concentrates on a particular rhythm. The first is quite slow; the second is in a waltz style; the third is faster and involves some hocketting between parts. The aim was to give equal opportunities to each line,whether they move together, as in the first piece, or in opposition, as in the last. They should give players who enjoy duets something to work on without setting impossible challenges.
