Composed in 1837 for Domenico Dragonetti and Clara Novello, this aria has been out of print for over 100 years. The solo bass part is of intermediate level and uses the orchestral range of the instrument, with semiquavers predominant throughout.

A high florid soprano line contrasts well with the flowing semiquavers of the double bass, ably supported by a lively and accessible accompaniment.

An ideal final item for a concert.
