This piece was written especially for Alison Stephens as a result of hearing her
play the 1st violin part (on mandolin) of the Dartington Summer School commission of 2008 'Wake into the Sun'.
Accordingly it is very virtuosic and challenging, being mostly very fast, with
occasional moments of repose and relaxation.
